Constant Plate Varieties 101
This section of the site is still under construction. My hope is that it will evolve into a detailed resource for collectors to learn about all facets of constant plate varieties on Canadian stamps.
Currently, we have a good general overview of the intaglio printing process that was used to print almost all of Canada's stamps well into the 1960's. This printing process was used to create Canada's classic engraved stamps where I believe plate varieties are of most interest to collectors.
There is also a short summary of basic definitions and descriptions of varieties related to siderography and the transfer roll.
Finally, I have included some advice for high resolution scanning of postage stamps.
